For the second annual World Refugee Day, cartoonist Tjeerd Royaards illustrates the impossible position of refugees, trapped between violence at home and unwelcoming new governments.

Since 2016, the UN Refugee Agency has sponsored World Refugee Day in commemoration of the strength and perseverance of displaced persons around the world. The day likewise demonstrates to governments the imperative of helping to improve the lives of refugees forced to flee their homes.
