The UNHCR estimates that 1.2 million people worldwide will be forced to seek international refuge in 2018, with 500,000 of these being Syrian refugees fleeing the Syrian civil war. Meanwhile, reports from the Trump administration suggest that the current US president may only allow 45,000 refugees into the country in 2018, a record low.
