This cartoon is selected in our project 360 Degrees for the theme the police – part of the people or part of the power (and why)? It is based on a comment by Raissa Krizdim: ‘The police in the Arab countries are created to beat people. They are part of the regime which is their source of income.’ On January 7, 2014 Turkey’s Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, dismissed hundreds of police officers in light of an ongoing corruption investigation.
