Description and Reader Names: Anita Desai has been shortlisted three times for the Booker Prize, with 'Clear Light Of Day' (1980), 'In Custody' (1994) and 'Fasting, Feasting' (1999). She has published several novels, children’s books and short stories. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, the American Academy of Arts and Letters and Girton College, Cambridge. She teaches in the Writing Program at MIT.
