Description and Reader Names: The Human Equity through Art Performance Series, with funding from the Heinz Endowments, presents National Book Award finalist poet Tim Seibles and local performance poet Yah Lioness Borne in the second of its 3-part, 2013-2014 performance series, March 20, 7:30 p.m. at the New Hazlett Theater.

HEArt brings these poets together to read in Pittsburgh as part of its ongoing mission to promote artists as activists and to build a community of citizens who believe in art as a vehicle for social justice and reform. 'Tim brings a long history of HEArt support too his reading. His unflinching poetry, which we return to again and again, played a seminal role in HEArt’s 1997-2002 success as a print journal,' says Leslie Anne Mcilroy, Managing Editor of HEArt Online, the nation’s only journal of literature and art devoted to fighting discrimination and promoting social justice.

'Yah Lioness is a truth teller with extraordinary presence and voice. Combining art and music and risk and serious style, she moves the mind from from complacency to riot, riot to a uncompromised hope, simply through her expression of what it means to struggle and love in this world. This will be her first performance exploring lgbtq issues.'
