Description and Reader Names: Johnstown native Kathleen George comes to Writers LIVE with The Johnstown Girls, a hybrid novel combining historical themes with whodunit mystery, set in her hometown in 1989, 100 years after the great Johnstown flood. Completed after 25 years of research, George captures the horrors of the flood and horrific aftermath by tracing the whereabouts of fictional twin sisters, Ellen and Mary, the latter of whom was presumed dead after the flood. Two investigative journalists recreate their lives, which leads to what The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette describes as 'a story with characters that feel so real that it's sometimes hard to remember the book is a work of fiction.'

A book signing follows the program with copies of The Johnstown Girls available from Mystery Lovers Bookshop.
