Description and Reader Names: Eckphrastic (writing to art) Writing Workshop to the Pittsburgh Society of Artist’s “Small Works” Exhibition on view at Most Wanted Fine Art Gallery

Thursday, June 19th
7:00pm to 9:00pm

In the ekphrastic tradition, discover the romance between image and text in a workshop led by Laurie-Arnold McMillan. Writers will view original art work in the exhibit, then create writing in response. No experience necessary!

Eckphrasis is a written enactment of your encounter with a work of art. How does the piece shift the writer? How does the writer enhance the meaning of a work of art. It is alchemy!

----Thursday, June 19th, from 7:00pm to 9:00 pm. Come to the Most Wanted Art Gallery and write to the paintings, photography, and sculpture on view in the “Small Works” exhibit.

----Sunday, June 29th from 11-3 pm. Writers who wrote to the “Small Works” exhibit are invited to read to the public in a dialogue among artists and participants in the gallery.

~ There is no picture and no poem unless you yourself enter it and fill it out.~ Jacob Bronowski
