Slideshow: The Turkey Coup Attempt

On July 16, 2016, a faction of Turkey’s army attempted to seize power from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In the course of a single night, soldiers raided television stations, protesters were shot at, and explosions were heard in Istanbul and Ankara. The Turkish government has arrested at least 6,000 people in the aftermath of the coup, including journalists, soldiers, and judges. ICORN writer Asli Erdogan was reportedly arrested yesterday.
