Roots & Branches: Writing Your Family Tree
Creative Nonfiction
02/20/2018
6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Workshop
Non-fiction

Description and Reader Names: We don’t get to choose our families; but when we write our stories we do get to make many choices about how we frame, represent, embrace, and challenge the family histories we’ve been told, discovered, or remembered through the years.

Join Creative Nonfiction for a 5-week writing workshop in which you’ll dig deep to hit the roots of your family tree and write the stories that you can pass down to the next generation.

You will examine the different modes that can help you craft family stories that are both personal and ready to be shared publicly. Through shared reading and discussions; in-class writing; and group workshops of creative work, you’ll leave with a polished, revised piece of creative nonfiction that you feel confident submitting to publications.

The workshop space is wheelchair accessible. Free on-street parking is available. Coffee, tea, water and light refreshments will be provided each week.

*Advance registration strongly recommended. The workshop is limited to 12 students.
**Tickets are on sale for $190 with early registration. Early registration ends Monday, February 5, 2018.
