Description and Reader Names: Akhil Sharma is an Indian-American author. Born in Delhi, he immigrated to the United States when he was eight, and grew up in Edison, N.J. His 2001 novel, An Obedient Father, won the PEN/Hemingway Award and the Whiting Writers’ Award that year. He has published stories in The New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, The Quarterly, Fiction, and in the Best American Short Stories Anthology and the O. Henry Award Winners Anthology.
