Description and Reader Names: We yearn….we travel to get a new perspective and inspiration, to experience a new set of eyes and to be affected by the other. We travel with purpose, or without it, to merely explore, and wonder. Sometimes we find treasure our own city and neighborhood. What do you find out that has changed you? How do we let ourselves be changed? We will read various writing samples of all genres that relate to travel— both physical and psychological— and WRITE from prompts and our lively discussions. All writing genres welcome. No writing experience necessary.
Who did you meet on a journey abroad you’ll never forget? What conversations stay with you from a country you’ve just been too? How does ancient and modern coexist? How does a foreign place live in you now? If you don’t travel watch how your imagination can take you anywhere! This course is designed to help participants along a creative path in a supportive, emotionally safe setting to sharpen essential narrative skills, including a trustworthy voice, a keen eye for details, greater understanding of human differences, and the willingness to share personal emotions and insights.
