Description and Reader Names: Anita Hooley Yoder will read her essay and discussion will follow.
'I've Read Too Much Poetry For That: Poetry, Personal Transformation, and Peace' was the winning essay in the 2014 Bethany Peace Essay Contest. In it, Anita Hooley Yoder explores how poetry in general--and the poetry of Mary Oliver, Rumi, and Julia Spicher Kasdorf in particular--have transformed her personal faith perspective. Such a personal transformation, she argues, is essential for forming individuals and communities of peace.
