Spoken Word Poetry Workshop

Sunday, August 9th
11 am-1:30 pm

This workshop is for writers at all levels who are interested in exploring, sharing, and embodying their voice through spoken word poetry. We will combine personal writing and spoken word as well as visualization and relaxation to create space for our deepest selves to surface. You do not need any previous experience or knowledge of spoken word poetry to attend. Participants are asked to bring their favorite piece of poetry by another author, which they will share during the workshop. Light refreshments will be served.

Participants can expect a safe space to:
Share their work
Stand and take up space while vocalizing their writing
Explore their emotions
Self-Reflect
Embrace their unique and sacred journey
Bring:
Your favorite piece of poetry by another author
A notebook
A writing utensil

Facilitator: Erin Dansevicus is a senior at Slippery Rock University who has been performing spoken word poetry for the past five years. She hopes this workshop will bring a sense of empowerment and peace to those courageous enough to explore their own story.

Cost: $10 per participant
