About ALWAYS TOO MUCH AND NEVER ENOUGH:

Jasmin Singer’s struggle with weight defined her life. From the extra pounds and unrelenting bullies that left Jasmin Singer eating lunch alone in a bathroom stall at school, to the low self-esteem that left her both physically and emotionally vulnerable, Jasmin spent her younger years feeling completely lost.

Most people think there’s no such thing as a fat vegan. Most people don’t realize that deep-fried tofu tastes amazing and that Oreos are, in fact, vegan. So, even after Jasmin discovered her passion in advocating for the rights of animals, she defied any “skinny vegan” stereotypes by getting even heavier. More importantly, she realized that her compassion for others didn’t extend to her own body, and that her low self-esteem was affecting her health. She needed a change.

Told with humble humor and heartbreaking honesty, ALWAYS TOO MUCH AND NEVER ENOUGH: A Memoir (Berkley Trade Paperback Original; February 2, 2016; $16.00) is Jasmin’s story of how she went from a bullied kid who found solace in a box of cheese crackers to becoming an empowered activist and finding peace with herself, her body, and her sexuality.

By committing to monthly juice fasts and a diet of whole, unprocessed foods, Jasmin lost almost a hundred pounds, gained an understanding of her destructive relationship with food, and even learned some hard truths about how intensely our society values thinness.

In a relatable memoir about finding one’s true identity and what that really means, Jasmin Singer’s debut is a raw and powerful account of self-realization. Above all ALWAYS TOO MUCH AND NEVER ENOUGH is an inspiration to create one’s best self.
