Description and Reader Names: Duquesne University alum KEITH DONOHUE visits his native Pittsburgh with CENTURIES OF JUNE, a novel of dreamlike introspection inspired by Gustav Klimt's painting "The Virgin." Part historical fiction, part magical realism, Donohue's novel opens in the protagonist's bathroom. From this confined space emerges an expansive novel of mystification, mythology, and archetypal American storytelling.

Why does the protagonist, knocked out from a blow to the head, awaken on his bathroom floor to discover eight women in his bed? The novel is about these women; their stories span centuries—from Native American folklore to the Salem witch trials, the New Orleans slave trade, and beyond. Kirkus Reviews describes the novel as "[a] tour de force in its mastery of styles...peculiar and quirky-and sure to appeal to offbeat tastes."
