Description and Reader Names: In addition to international poets, this year's Jazz Poetry Concert will feature:

Oliver Lake Steel Quartet with Meshell Ndegeocello
& Poet Patricia Smith

Oliver Lake's Steel Quartet features Lyndon Achee, one of the few pan steel virtuosos on the jazz scene. It offers what might be called AfroCaribbean soul jazz, an accessible yet provocative blend of funk and soul jazz with tropical rhythms.

This is the first time Meshell Ndegeocello will be playing with the Steel Quartet. Michelle is a 10-time Grammy nominee, playing bass and singing. ""In the search for love, truth and justice a good vamp never hurts. That's the modus operandi of Meshell Ndegeocello." -- Jon Pareles, The New York Times

Patricia Smith is 4-time National Poetry Slam champion and finalist for the 2008 National Book Award in poetry. She is recognized as one of the world's most formidable performers. She was featured in the nationally-released film "Slamnation," and appeared on the award-winning HBO series "Def Poetry Jam."

Jazz Poetry Concert takes place on a closed public street on the Northside (Sampsonia Way). A stage and a giant projection screen are set up on the street, along with 700 chairs.

In the event of rain, the concert is relocated to the New Hazlett Theater.

To get notified in case of rain relocation, email: coapgh@yahoo.com (Subject: Jazz Poetry rain notice)
